New Developments for this Flighty Crafter

Happy Monday. Yeah right who am I kidding. Hey Monday you can stop showing your ugly face every week. I hate you. You make me roll my hot body out of bed after a leisurely weekend. Was that snickering I heard?? YES MY HOT BODY!! Did I stutter?? Ok so not nearly as hot as when I was 20 but that was a husband and 2 kids ago....and lots of cookies and macaroni & cheese. But this is a judge free zone people!! So moving on.

I made some more hats this weekend. What else would I do?? I'm not bored with this craft yet so I'm churning these babies out like I'm a sweat shop. Too bad I don't work in one I assume they don't get cookies and macaroni while working, I would drop weight so fast!! Ok back to reality. So here are the pictures of my most recent hats. Aren't you impressed?? I am. I made the koala one pretty much without a pattern. I only used a basic pattern for the hat. All the facial features I did on my own. BOOM!!! Beat that ___________ (<---- enter someone who is well known for crocheting. There has to be someone...right??)

I'm working on a hat for my daughter right now. It's going to be a pink and purple owl hat, she's excited. Why wouldn't she be. It will be the best owl hat ever!! That is until I make my next owl hat. Oh and for those of you who are wondering, I'm not conceited - I'm confident. Yes, there's a difference....I don't really know what it is right now but I don't have time for that. I'm working on making the best freakin' crocheted hats on the planet, remember?!?!

So what new developments?? Well I'm glad you asked. I finished the koala hat and that may turn into more orders since it's for my friend Stella's daughter. The koala is her school's mascot. Fierce, right?? I wouldn't want to meet a koala in a dark alley, he might hug me to death!! So I have instructed Stella (HINT HINT) to spread the word and hopefully more people will think it's a cute idea and want one for their kids. Here's hoping.

The other new development is that there is a show coming up for local businesses to promote their businesses. It is the Spring Fling event here in Katy and I plan on attending to showcase my hats. I will have to make a lot to display and will hopefully sell those and get a lot of custom orders. Who knows. I'm dreaming big here. My goal is to retire in 6 months. Like I said BIG DREAMS, come on keep up people.

So on to some personal aspects of my life. This weekend was awesome for another reason. My old cleaning lady starts today and she came by yesterday so I could show her around the new place and so she could silently judge how dirty my house was. FYI I was watching Hoarders last night and my house looks spotless compared to them so now I don't feel so bad. But hey if my house wasn't a mess then why would I need a cleaning lady. That's a thinker!!! So not only is she cleaning but she will also be cooking. CAN'T. CONTAIN. EXCITEMENT!!!!! She will be coming over 3x a week to cook and clean, and she will be cooking 2 meals at a time that way even when she's not there I will still have a meal cooked. This make life so much easier plus leaves me more time to crochet and take care of the kids. Hmmm where did they go?? Slippery little suckers!! Just kidding no need to call CPS, keep them on standby you never know when I will need an extended break from the kiddos. KIDDING!!!

So it's finally donned on my that I should put a disclaimer in my blog. Here it is. If you are overly sensitive this is not the blog for you and you should probably move back in with your mommy. I'm sure she can find your bottle somewhere, you two will be very happy together. Ok there you go, sorry to post that disclaimer at the end. Hopefully your aren't sucking your thumb and rocking back and forth in a dark room.

Who am I kidding???? My blog is awesome and everyone will love it. Once again: CONFIDENCE. Autograph requests can be posted below in the comments.

Peace out home slice!!

"You Can't Handle the Proof!!!"

No longer am I a blog virgin. I feel like I have finally caught up with the rest of the tree huggers. The only difference is my blog is a fun read, but I guess there's a chance I could be SLIGHTLY biased. So yesterday I posted about my flighty ways and today I thought I would show proof of a couple of my Flighty Crafter crafts. If I had had a cell phone with a camera in 8th grade I would be more than horrified happy to show you the brown eye liner as lip liner disaster. But thankfully unfortunately back then not every one had cell phones like they do today!! Whew!! Those would have been some pretty pictures I can assure you.

Anywho, getting back to the point. I wanted to show you that I have photographic proof of some of the crafts that I have tackled. I hope you enjoy the blurry cell phone pictures. Now that I am a serious journalist I will have to start using my camera and plug that USB cord thing into the hole in my computer and download the pictures and then post them. This sounds like a lot of steps but as I said I'm a serious journalist and must put in the effort and dedication...unless I lose interest and move on to something else (but that almost never happens).

First up is Couponing which, as most of my other Flighty Crafter ventures have been, was pretty successful...while I was into it.

This first picture shows the time and effort that it took to actually do this. What you don't see are my kids and the dog running across everything and making it a messier than it looks now. The remaining 3 pictures show all of my awesome steals. That laundry detergent cost me only .99/bottle. The little rectangles you see on the shelf below are the 3-in-1 sheets that have you laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheet all in one -- those too were only .99/ea (normally $8 or $9). Love them!!! I actually got way more stuff than that, now that I'm posting these pictures I am making a mental note to get back into this. No laughing/judging PLEASE!! I hope that mental note holds until the Sunday paper gets here. I'll will keep you updated.

Okay now moving on to bow making. Shout out to my friend Stella for starting me on this one and to YouTube for watering this seed until it got bored and moved on to the next craft. Bow making was enjoyable and fairly inexpensive. Soon thereafter I'm sure Hobby Lobby could have picked me out of a line up -- the crime you ask: Petty Theft from my own wallet. It's shameful but I'm pretty sure that's only a misdemeanor. But enough about that let's get back to the crafts!

Aren't they pretty?? They were easy and fun to make, except for the occasional hot glue gun burns. Battle scars I like to call them. I actually have a friend who make beautiful bows for her daughter so maybe she can get me back into it, you know if it's God's Will.

Dog Treats. Great idea right? Still is and I really should make more since the hubs works in a pet store. I really like pretty things so I decided I would fancy them up by putting icing on them and packaging them in mason jars. Once of his suppliers was impressed and said he would like to hear updates on how sales are going. Sales are great! I'm sold out and they are on backorder. I will make more as soon as I circle back to that craft.

Impressed much?? Thank you, thank you!

So on to the newest Flighty Crafter craft: Crocheting!! I've sold a couple of hats and have several people interested. My business is just taking off, I better start on my resignation letter. At $20 a pop I will be a millionaire (and have full blown arthritis and carpel tunnel) after 50,000 hats. Oh no that's a reality check!! May be moving on to the next craft sooner than I thought. What to do next?? Just kidding this is THE craft. The Matthew McConaughey of crafts. The Mark Wahlberg of crafts. The Simon Cowell...well you get the point. And YES Simon Cowell, I don't know something about those tight shirts. Moving on.

Prepare to be impressed.

Ta da!!! So those are all the pictures I have so far. But more to come I promise. Shameless plug alert!!! If you are interested in me crocheting something for you just let me know. I'm working on a dinosaur and koala hat. Two different hats of course, otherwise that would be one weird combo. But hey for $20 I could make it happen for you. See, I told you it was shameless.

So those are my more recent crafts from The Flighty Crafter. More to come and if you have any suggestions on my next craft let me know. I'm sure I can find a YouTube video.

Well thanks for reading and have a great Friday. Peace Out to my Peeps!!

Why am I The Flighty Crafter???

This is my first attempt at blogging but I thought it would be fun to add something else to my long list of things to do. So to start I would like to say that I've always been a copycat crafter. Basically I see something, learn how to do it, then tweak it to make it my own. I remember being young and painting, oh and I'm not a good painter. I can doodle but even that's not up to a true doodler's standards. So let's list the crafts that I can remember starting (not in any order):

Painting - not very well

Knitting - I ended up with a piece that resembled a boot shape but not a boot. So in NO way was this functional. However, I have to say that this could have been the fact that I only took one knitting class and this pre-dated YouTube.

Chollipops - An idea for chocolate balls ("that's what she said" - sorry had to throw that in) on sticks. Never actually got past the fantastic name and some Internet searches for different shaped molds. Who knows I may fall back on that.

Couponing - Saw The Krazy Coupon Lady on The Nate Berkus show and decided that would be my next venture. I got some amazing deals but since I feel that you know me well enough by now to realize I'm flighty, it didn't last but for a few months. However, when asked I still say that I have stopped but need to get back into it. Yeah right. Who am I kidding. Who wants to clip all those coupons and save all that money when I have trillions of other crafts out there I haven't tried.

Clothing Designer - Decided in 8th grade this would be great and being a naive 8th grader felt that some designs on a notebook would make me the next Vera Wang. Not a bad idea....what ever happened to that notebook?? Hmmm, I may have to revisit that one.

Makeup Artist - I always liked makeup. I remember my first official introduction was my mother letting me have a wet n' wild compact and a light pink lipstick. But I quickly realized that wasn't going to cut it so I started sneaking some of my friend's lipstick which was a yucky shade of orange, that is until my mother busted me by finding the tissue I used to wipe it off before she found me. The I went through a phase where I wore brown eye liner as lip liner. Yikes!! By the time I got to high school though I was doing makeup for girls before school dances. See that craft showed real progress through the years. I still love makeup but my goal isn't to be a celebrity makeup artist.

Bow Making - I truly blame and thank YouTube for some of my Flighty Crafter problems. I started making bows for my daughter and she loved them so I kept making them. Then I got bored with it after a while. What else did you expect???

Dog Treat Making - Once again YouTube is the culprit on this one. My husband works in a pet store so it seemed like a good thing at the time. Honestly I can't say I'm done with this one. I still have every intention of getting back to that one...next week...or the week after. Well, let's put a pin in it.

Event Planning - That's still on the list of current crafts but I'm not doing much with it. I guess I just don't want to put the necessary marketing $$$$ into it. So if it takes off then it does, if not I'm sure I can find another craft. That's what I do!!

Now to the best craft ever....because it's my current craft. They are all the best ever when I'm knee deep in them.

Crocheting - Where you ask??? I found a pin on Pinterest (oops I forgot Pinterest was a Flighty Craft too) for a crocheted child's beanie. So I decided to search on YouTube (where else????) and I found this fantastic teacher, Teresa who calls herself The Crochet Geek that shows you step by step how to crochet. So now I consider myself a step up from beginner since I can read a pattern without having to watch a video. Holla!!!!

So that's my Flighty Crafter summary so you trust that I deserve the right to use that name. If you have any more doubts I'm sure I can think of more flighty crafts of my past. I will be posting some pictures of my Flighty Crafter crafts so you have visual proof.
