Free Pattern: Elf Hat

I made an elf hat a while ago that is on my Facebook Page but never wrote the pattern. The pattern was requested so I did this yesterday. Please forgive the pictures, I forgot to take them and so I had my husband took them. I will tell him not to quit his day job!!

If you have any special requests for patterns please message me on Facebook or comment below. If you would like for me to make something I can do that, message me for pricing.

Supplies Needed:
Yarn: Lionbrand Homespun Yarn (5 Bulky). I used the color Deco which is a beautiful cream color.
Hook: J, 6.00mm
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Satin Ribbon 3/4 inch (optional)

Abbreviations:
Ch: Chain
sl st: Slip Stitch
dc: Double Crochet
sc: Single Crochet

Notes: When I write "1 dc" at the beginning of a new row it means a chain 2

Pattern:
Ch 3, sl st to join to 1st ch
R1: ch 2 (counts as dc throughout) 7 dc in the ring, join to top of ch 2 (8 dc)
R2-R5: 1 dc in each stitch (8 dc)
R6:1 dc, 2dc, repeat (12 dc)
R7-R10: 1dc in each stitch (12 dc)
R11: 1dc, 2dc (18 dc)
R12-R15: 1dc in each stitch (18 dc)
R16: 1 dc, 2dc, repeat (27 dc)
R17-R20: 1 dc in each stitch (27 dc)
R21: 1 dc next 5, 2dc, repeat (30 dc)
R22-R25: 1dc in each stitch (30 dc)
R26 (optional): change to satin trim, 1sc in each stitch.
Tie off

Pom Pom: I used a coaster for the sizing. Wrap yarn around coaster approximately 30 times.  Slide off coaster and tie a TIGHT knot around the center to cinch together and you will leave a long tail to sew onto the top of the hat. Cut the loops and then trim so it looks like an even pom pom. Use your needle and sew on to the top of the hat and tie off.

Happy Hooking!! Don't forget to post pictures to my Facebook Page
